Hi, I recently picked up an 89 Camaro RS it has a stock 305 TBI. Its been running great and I bought it from an owner I knew well and drove it alll the time prior. Recently the water pump started leaking and the temp was running high around 230 to 220. When the car was on it iddnt leak, but when it was off it leaked like a sieve. I installed a new one. its working great. However I'm still running at 230 to 220. The electric fan comes on at 230 without fail, but what gives, thats so hot, water boils at 212 should it be running less than that atleast? What i've done so far is replaced the lower radiator hose, ill replace the upper, new waterpump, 160 degree thermo, and flushed out the radiator good. It runs at the this temp all the time, whether im cruising along or in traffic, or idle. I don't kno what to do to get it to run cooler. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks

160 thermostat.. hypertech fan switch, i will turn your fan on @ 200 degrees

where can i get this fan switch? any aftermarket shop? Also I think the air deflector is missing from the bottom of my radiator lol so that could be my whole problem of why it isnt cooling off while driving I hope so!

FYI water boils at a higher temp. under pressure.
My '84 Z did exactly the same thing...
I had a 195deg thermostat

So it was the air dam I put in a 160 thermo and it runs no hotter than 170 now while driving. However in traffic it heats up a little but so im buying a fan switch that'll kick the fan on a lot earlier than it does now! Thanks guys for all your help!
