Why doesn't MegaShifter work in 88-92 Formula?

Why doesn't MegaShifter work in 88-92 Formula?
I have a '90 Formula that I'm installing the megashifter into and it says in their instructions that it will not go into my car. I've started the install and can't figure out any reason that it wouldn't. Anyone know?

they do fit, Pick up the June issue of Car Craft they put one in a 1988 formula,and they tell you how they fit it in.
