Can I get a Corvette Servo from a Corvette wrecking yard?

I have access to a Corvette wrecking yard.
All I hear is "upgrade with a Corvette servo".
Can I get one from a used Corvette in a wrecking yard?
What do I look for? Years, etc.
I need to put them in my V-6 700R-4 trannys.
Easy to replace a spring, the housing looks different, than the regular ones, correct?

I seriously doubt they would sell you a part of a transmission and make that trans incomplete and worth less, most vette servo kits cost about $25-$40 anyway so unless you plan on walking out with it in your tool box I'd buy new. This link has all kinds of servos including vettes. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperf700r4.htm

I Like their web page & prices very much.
I just need to decide which parts to buy.
This looks easier & easier every day.
CAN I OPEN MY TORQUE CONVERTOR, WASH IT OUT & REUSE IT, REWELD IT SHUT??
It worked fine, before. Still does, by my standards.

With all due respect, what are you doing to those V-6's that they would possibly NEED a Vette Servo? I have a MPI V-6 (with more power than my old 305 Firebird had) and I use the V-8 Servo (553) it shifts great (I also have the Transo 700 Jr. Shift Kit in it). I really think many people are spending money in an area that does not always need it. In all but the real High HP cars the 553 is perfect. Unless you have a problem with a cutloose that you know isn't due to burned 3-4's or an internal leak of some sort.

No Problem, I appreciate the tips.
I will be pulling the tranny out of my S-10 Blazer, tranny has never cooperated properly. I now have a sources for the special tools, a place to pull it apart and the prices for the parts.
Any reason why I cannot cut open the torque convertor and reweld it?
My 1985 Firebird with a 1995 3.4 under the hood, needs a strong tranny! Any upgrade tips is REALLY appreciated!
I am taking this broken tranny (now in my S-10 Blazer), rebuilding it for my Firebird, taking the "weak" operating 100% properly 700R4 (from the Firebird) slip it under my S-10 Blazer, with a not so strong engine.

You're asking some strange questions, don't buy a vette servo, take out the cushion spring and shim it, find instructions in a trans go shift kit, I have a 553 servo shimmed in a V-8 S-10, this mod works good for light vehicles.
As for the converter, I had mine rebuilt and the woman who did it let me watch the process, it was interesting. They Cut it apart on a lathe and weld it together on a fixure that adjusts the end play and pump drive runout.
I've also cut one open with a 4 1/2" grinder along the weld when I was extreemly bored, I knew it was getting thrown out when I was done.

I had/have absolutly no idea, why one could not cut and reweld a torque convertor.
So it must be up on a jug, to assure settings/tolerences.
Ok I can work with that response.
I figured you slice it open and clean it out & weld it back up.
Now I know different.
I was hoping to reuse my current torque convertor, but I hear they must be flushed or washed out or something or go get another.
I was hoping to spend less money.

The main thing is the clutch in the 700R4 converter, it wears out just like the clutches in the trans so why just replace them and let the converter clutch go. Other than flushing it out they also inspect it and replace bearings and washers. The clutch looks similiar to a manual trans clutch with the cushion springs, well mine were broken in a million pieces, it was a core I got from a junkyard so I don't know what simptoms it had before the failure.
I am the type of person who likes to do everything myself also but I wouldn't try welding a converter back together, It only cost me $65 and they used a carbon fiber clutch (I forgot what it's actually made of but something like that).
