TV Detent cable HELP

I recently rebuilt my transmission and had to replace my tv/detent cable. The part # 10241763 is gm stock for the tpi motor. When I put the cable on the cable came out short according to the mechanic. It wouldn't go WOT. Shifting would slip between gears. The brackets don't look like it could adjust. Why would a stock cable come out short? I bought the cable from Bowtie overdrives and when I called them they said it was the right cable for my motor. Should I just take it to a different mechanic to see why it doesn't fit?

Re: TV Detent cable HELP

you could always get an aftermarket cable that adjusts for length. sounds stupid I know but sometimes it's how the world goes round. BTO is a trans place, and your mechanic is probably an engine mechanic not a trans specialist. What is your solution?
