need help i want to swap carriers/gears on a 9bolt

need help i want to swap carriers/gears on a 9bolt

ok well i was wondering how to go about swapping over gears from my old car to my new one. their both 9 bolts. do i take out the carrier and put it in as a whole. i know nothing about swapping this stuff exc. can someone help me on what steps i have to do. i know about taking the drive shaft out, but once that rear cover is off i know nothing. both cars are automatic.

You are going to need to remove the wheels, brakes, backing plates, then the axles come out (use a slide hammer). Then pull off the cover and unbolt the bolts holding in the carrier (2 bolts per side, can't miss them) and that will then come out.

Yes, switch the whole carriers.

The easiest thing to do is swap the complete rear end. When you start taking parts out of the rear end you will have to go through the complete set up procedure. You will have to set the pinion depth, backlash and bearing preload. Just swap the complete rear end and be done with it.
