What is this clunk???

Ok, car is an '87 GTA that is a PITA. something new every day it seems. the subject for the day is as follows: upon deaccelaration, when coming to a complete stop(or just before), the car CLUNK--CLUNKS really LOUD, from the rear of the car. like something is shifting around back there and bangind once or twice. Now it ONLY happens at a dead stop! no clunk at acceleration on any shifts, or at deacceleration at any shift. other than the clunk happens right after the final downshift before the car stops. when shifting from park to reverse or to drive even, sometimes there is a little bang. but not much. but different from the clunk. now the clunk at stop, that is really loud. when my other 700R4 mounts went bad it would bang against the bottom of the car upon flooring it or hard shifts. this one doesn't do that, just clunks when i slow to a >5MPH roll in a parking lot or slow to a dead stop at a light. it is so loud i am not even driving the car till i find out what it is, since i feel i may be doing further damage. any comments would be appreciated. thanks.

You are actually feeling the 3-2 shift. Usually this is most noticable in the D position rather than the OD.
