I turn on my 89 Camaro (TPI, 350, 700r4 trans,) when I put it in gear it runs only till it hits around 5mph, then it shuts of; it turns on again with no problem and stays on without a problem i can leave it on for hours. I have rebuilt the trans and bought a new torque converter. Can someone help!!

 

I really don't have an answer for you, just a guess. I don't even know if the top speed is limited on an '89, but maybe a problem with that, or the VSS.

 

Well, I have a 2.8L and it has the oil pressure sensor on it. If oil pressure drops below normal, it is suppose to shut off fuel pump in order to save the engine. Not sure if this is the case for your engine. Can you rev it up in "park"?

 

Also check the grounds that should be bolted to the back of Both heads. There should be 2 or 3 grounds on both heads. If these are not on/tight, most of your sensors,injectors,ignition,etc will fail with just a little engine load. (At idle, they can find grounds through various paths, but they can't sustain them under load)

 

The engines revs just fine when its in park

 

This is a longshot. Have you been doing your own proms? There was a "joke" in one of the calibrations posted in the "come-in-for-a-free-tune" thread. It involved a speed limiter killing the engine at very low vehicle speeds.
