Swapping 700R4's - Need Help with this!!!
Hey guys,
Tomorrow I'm gettign my hands on an 88 GTA and I need to take out its 700R4 and swap it into my 86 TA. They should fit perfectly right?
My question is how difficult would it be to do this at home? What kinds of tools do I need? If anybody knows a website with detailed info on this, I would really appreciate it.
My biggest concern, is how do I support the tranny shile I'm taking it out, is there a specific tool for this, and where do I get it.
Thasnk for the help.

You shouldn't need anything more than normal combination wrenches, a set of sockets with an assortment of swivel joints and extensions can help to get the bellhousing bolts out. To support the transmission and probably more importantly to lift the new one in
you'll need a tranny jack which you should be able to rent. I've done it with a small piece of plywood on a floor jack and a helper underneath to keep the tranny balanced.
