I recently had a little problem with my converter. I somehow lost all 3 bolts out of the converter. I was driving down the road and then all of a sudden the tranny was whinning loud and I wan't going anywhere. After I bought some new bolts, I noticed that one of the bolts stripped out the threads in the converter. I was tricked into buying a B&M TorkMaster converter (DON'T BUY ONE, THEY SUCK HARDCORE). Anyways, I was wondering if I could run on only 2 bolts? Would it damage the oil pump? I really don't want to drop the tranny. It's a built-up 350 backed up by a THM-350. This is all in my truck (77, 1/2 ton), so the tranny has the extra clutch packs and the motor is a nice 4-bolt. Thanks.

Running just two, you risk shearing them off. Instead of the bolts holding 33 percent of the torque applied, they must hold 50 percent.

It's your life. Once something like that (serious personal injury) is done, it can't be undone. I wouldn't drive a car like that. My life and limb is valuable enough to me that it's worth an afternoon's work to avoid endangering myself. That's just MHO, others may feel differently.

I doubt you went very far at all with one bolt.
