Sonnax T.V Spring Bad On Transmission?

I installed the "sonnax" T.V cable spring today and noticed one heck of a difference, but im concerned that im slowly killing my transmission with it...

Normally I'm used to 1st gear pulling to about 14mph and then a nice jerk into 2nd doing a little under 2k rpm. 2nd gear would then be spirited up to about 38mph and then jump into third, then 4th gear would hit at about 60-65mph depending on how much throttle was being used. I could be driving around town and have it into 3rd gear by 35 mph if i goose the throttle a little so it goes ahead and shifts..

After the spring, 1st gear wound all the way up to 23mph doing about 4k rpm before jumping into 2nd... holy crap what a shift!!... 2nd gear wouldn't shift into 3rd till about 50mph, and third gear wouldn't shift into 4th till about 75 mph!! Talk about some RPMs....

I finally had to tune the TV adjuster on the throttle body ALL the way out (aka softest stock shift points) to have halfway normal shift points.

Now I shift into 2nd doing 19 mph doing right at 3k rpm, 3rd gear kicks in around 45 mph give or take depending on how much throttle is given.... This to me seems more normal and is a whole lot more fun to drive, considering im now in my power band when I shift and not above it...

My 700R4 has been beefed up, and it was done b4 I got the car, (Torque converter, shift kit, who knows what else) and it shifts harder than any car i've ever driven (without the spring)

Are these awesome shifts slowly killing my transmission, or am I OK to leave it this way??

Re: Sonnax T.V Spring Bad On Transmission?

Nobody has any idea?? The spring im talking about increases line pressure and creates a firmer shift, but that's all I know at the moment... I need to know if it's a bad thing or not...

if you have a shift kit, you dont really need the spring.

the spring is made as a band-aid to help the trans to function more normally after you swap in lower rear end gears. Its not really meant as a performance piece. For instance, i used to have a 00r4 in my car, it was stock. I swapped my 2:73 rear gears for 3:73's. I would be in 4th gear by 35mph because of the gears, so i installed one of these spring to correct this issue, which it did, i added a upgraded servo and it shifted really really hard, the car would almost jump everytime it shifted.

I dont think it will hurt the trans, especially it it has been beefed, but your u-joints will take a beating and so will your rear end.
