problem shifting t-5

i am having a problem down shifting from 5th to 4th it wont do it. is my tranny toast how much to fix? goes up through the gears ok but 4th is still a little sticky even going up.

help needed.

hmmmmm

my camaro was like that, but it was sticky in 3rd

one day it just stuck and never came out

rebuild cost $1600

they told me my synchro's went bad

It sounds like your shifting fork's plastic pices or your sincros are going south. you can either have it rebuilt wich will cost you an arm and a leg or you can try to do it yourself. It's pretty straight forard if you have a manual (mine's back in N.J I'll have to get it next time I go on leave) just make sure you dont loose any keepers- GM no longer sells them by themselfs I nedded to go to ford(sorry I was out of options) By the way the mustang and jeep T5 is the same intarnilly as ours the only diffrance is the case and input/ouput shafts so any parts that are discotinusd by GM you can get from ford or chrisler and one more thing if you change any gears(chipt teeth, ect)get the proper # of teeth or the tranny wont work.

mine does the same thing except for mine goes all the way up fine. 5th to 4th will not happen unless i let the car slow down to about 50 mph
