car is an 89TA- at light and part throttle it won't shift into the next gear till around 4000rpm, I adjusted the TV and same situation. when it does get into 3rd gear it will be at 1000rpm till you touch the gas then it will jump up to normal revs (2000+) and go. When you let off the throttle the revs will float at higher rpms then drop off to 1000rpm. I tried a trick I had been told... put it in reverse and nailed it. that helped some but I did not take it too far after doing that. I have not pulled the pan to check for material but I did the trans fluid and filter a few months ago and it looked good then. Any ideas on problem and repair much appreciated

 

Sounds like you're right. It's time for a rebuild, from what I've read on this board you need to be sure, if you have a shop do it, that they give you your trans back and not exchange it for a core.
