I just had the trans rebuilt with a manual valve body, when I shift from 1-2 at high RPM 3500 or higher the trans drags for about a second before going into second, if I just take off normally the trans shifts firm. I feel this is seriously hurting my 1/4 time, I G-Teched it and ran a best of 15.86 @93mph, I feel I should be faster than this. Well here comes my question, I am having a set of gears installed in a couple of weeks, and I was going to have the guy install a vette servo and .500 boost valve, would this firm up my 1-2 shift or should I pay him extra to take a look inside the tranny to see if anything is wrong, considering I did just get it rebuilt. I just can't stand knowing my car is so slow.

It sounds like one of the clutch packs is either too tight or too loose (clearance). The boost valve will help firm up the manual 1-2 shift and the servo will firm it up in automatic and manual but not until you get your other problem fixed.
