I recently bought an 87 Camaro. By VIN code it was an LG4 (700R4).
Shortly after I bought it I learned that 87's had the center bolt valve covers, this one didn't. I became very sceptical about what I got. I recently discovered it had an 84 L69 (305HO) engine. But that didn't bother me to much as I bought it to put
my 383 in it anyway.
Then I began to wonder about what trany version I had. Hoping it was a late model 1987 700R4 (potluck), not an 84 to match the engine.
Anyway I picked the numbers off today. It did have a cast 'MD8' and I could identify the pan shape as a 700R4. The stamped numbers on the Pass Side rail are
'6YWM-4-00300647-255A'.
I would appreciate it if someone could decode it for me. ------- Thanks.
