700r4 won't shift to 3rd or 4th gear
I have a 1993 Chev. pickup. It will not shift out of 2nd gear. After 2nd, it just free-wheels or act as though it is in neutral. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

First, check to see if the TV cable is free & working ok, and it is adjusted properly. 2nd, does the 1-2 shift at part throttle occur at the right time? 3rd, do you get 3rd gear at any time? 4th, did this happen all at once or slowly start to happen? Almost forgot check fluid level & condition of the fluid? From all indications, the 3-4 clutch pack is gone and it is time for a rebuild. If you determine that you need a transmission, then I can be of help on a performance transmission rebuild or just the performance parts needed to rebuild a unit. thats the exact thing that happened to my dads 1993 Suburban. it wouldnt shift outta 2nd, and basically couldnt go faster than 26 mph
so we got it rebuilt for like 1200 or somethin like that. the guy gave us back all the old parts too just to see how roasted they all were, but now its like brand new and works like a dream. go bring it to a transmission guy and have him drive it around see what he thinks.
