Installing Megashifter in 1987 TransAm GTA
I will soon be picking up a 1987 GTA...I currently drive a 1991 Formula and know that megashifter will not work with my 1991....Jegs catalog shows that shifter wont work with my 1991 but it doesnt say anything about 1987.....im hoping someone can tell me if theyve installed a megashifter in their 1987 without problems....
thanks in advance!

Oh, it works with the trans; here's why they say it won't fit:
It's not a direct bolt-in to the console top.
That's all! That's the big mystery reason... just be very careful cutting your console top and drilling the holes for the B&M plate. I used a cutting tip on a soldering gun, other guys used dremels with cutting wheels, etc.
The earlier Firebirds had console lids held on with torx screws- for those, the Megashifter "fits" because you unscrew the old lid and screw down the new plate.
By saying it won't work with the Formulas, B&M covers their butts by people saying "hey! I ruined my console cover because of you! Buy me a new one!" Just measure 5 times and cut once, that's all- and remember to leave enough room for the 4 screw holes around the perimeter of the shift plate.
I have the same formula/GTA style of center console in my Firebird coupe; the shift plate fit "exactly" between the bottom of my ashtray button and the top of my window switches. It looks like a factory job.
