No overdrive.... haven't driven in 3 years
I just got done putting a new motor in. It's been sitting for about 3 years. When driving this morning I noticed it won't go into OD. If I have the selector in OD, it won't shift and if I take my foot off the gas the RPM's will go down to 800.
I'm thinkin it's a bad wire connection, or that TV cable.
I haven't torn into it yet because the front Brakes almost caught on fire when I was on my home from work, so needless to say I have been working on this first.
Just got to get the bugs worked out.

Two areas come to mind. One is if you changed the intake setup so that the geometry could be off for the TV Linkage? Next is, if that is stock, do this: To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the D button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.

I just caught where ya are. I lived there about 5 years ago now I'm in henrietta, by RIT, and work in Fairport. Do ya own, or work at a shop around there, or just know alot about trannys?

I used to work in Henrietta at a tranny shop and at a couple of dealers. I live in Webster now and work at a shop in Rochester. Although I am ASE Master certified from my dealer days, I have always been hired primarily for my tranny work (24 years worth). When I get a chance I go to the Log Cabin cruise nights in Macedon just to look around. My own little project (a '63 Buick Riviera) is still waiting for it's owner to fix the tranny in it!
