No computer to shift the tranny?
I was planning on putting a 700r4 in my car but was originally a t5. My problem is that im not sure if the tranny will shift when put in drive and also would i have to install a maunal valve body? I want to shift it as a manual all the time but dont want to fry my tranny w/ a manual valve body. im hoping someone can shed a little light on this.
Thanks, Chas

A 700R4 is purely mechanical. It's not shifted by a computer. The only thing controlled by the computer is the torque converter lockup, and you can just control that with an on/off toggle switch.
Cant help you on the other stuff..

also to make it shift right you need the TV cable set the way its spose to be, but yes the only thing electrical in a 700r4 is the lockup switch.
heres a link to setting the TV cable. TV stands for Throttle Valve

ok with that being said how can i get it to shift manually? Is the only way with a manual valve body? I heard these cause a lot of problems.

Re: No computer to shift the tranny?
yes the only way to shift manaully is with a manual valve body, i have a 700r4 with a TCI full manual valve body and it works great i have no prpblems besides the cluches witch i have replace already, and it does away with the tv cable too. but just to tell you it shifts really hard, so if you do not like that dont go that way. i love it
