Hurst Dual Gate Shifter & B&M Megashifter

I'm looking to replace the shifter in my 86 IROC. I can't decide between the Hurst Dual Gate or the B&M Megashifter. I like the design of the Dual Gate but I prefer the Megashifter's looks. Does Hurst make a boot for the Dual Gate? The car will be mainly a street car; which shifter would you choose?

My friend has the dual gate in his 89 and it definately looks good. I have the megashifter and I love it. Especially being able to shift thru the gears with out missing one. For the money I would go with Megashifter again, it's $150 compared to the dual gate over $200 ( I believe).

Thanks for the responses, I think I'll be going with the Megashifter. I'm think I'm going to try one out first, just in case...

Word of advice, if you get the Megashifter, use the stock cable, a lot of people seem to have trouble with the B& M shifter cable. This way you won't even have to get under the car. The only thing you'll need to do is cut 2 brackets and drill one. Just make sure the cable doesn't rub on the shifter my did a little so I just had to move it around a little.

I also have the Megashifter & love it- just don't Armor-all the rubber boot.. it'll crack faster than an egg dropped on cement! I used the B&M cable and was fine... I looped it just the way they showed me to- but I've heard of people having problems with it, too.

Mark, can you elaborate on "cut two brackets and drill one"? I've got a Megashifter waiting to be installed. Thanks!

I love my megashifter and I have had no prob other than the boot starting to crack a bit. I used the long cable that was supplied and I have never had to adjust the cable. I just followed the directions and everything worked alright. I love the ratchet action though and it makes living with an auto much easier. It still isn't a t56 though!

The bracket that the cable goes thru on the shifter. Cut the bracket off the B&M shifter and cut the same bracket off the stock shifter. Now use the bracket from the old shifter, but since it will be separate from where the bracket was on the B&M you will have to drill a hold and put a bolt thru, this way the bracket stays in place and the shift cable doesn't move. Just make sure that when you run the cable thru the bracket that it doesn't rub against the shifter, you don't want it to wear the cable. Just a little of adjustment should clear it. Hope this helps, I'm sure you'll figure it out once you get started.
