which rear end to use

i have a 92z and a 87 2.8, and doing a v8 swap into the v6 car and want to know if the rear ends are the same or if the z one will be better?

There's no such thing as a V6 or V8 differential. If they're both 7.5" 10 bolts then they're identical except for gearing and if they have a posi or not. Strength wise, they're roughly all the same.

The 92 will be a better choice because it will have the larger 28 spline axles which all third gens got from 90-92 regardless of engine or transmission. It will have the same tiny 7.5" ring and pinion as the 87 although may be a different ratio.
