I posted a while ago about my friends truck. The tranny shifted very hard into 2nd gear. The salesman said it was suppose to do that, it has a shift kit in it. Not true. The tranny blew and costed $2800 to fix. And now it has a couple busted rings on a piston, the oil ring and the one above it. Now they say he needs a new motor. He paid $25,000 for this truck, now he's gotta pay about another 10 grand to get it right. Well anyway, since he needs a new motor, if he was to put a 350 in it with a carb and regular HEI would his transmission still shift? Or is it even possible or even an option to just put in a carbed motor and have everything work right? He has a 4L60E which, to my knowledge is shifted by the computer, no TV cable, right? This truck has been seriously modified and had a turbo on the motor, been lifted and all sorts of suspension parts too. Very nice truck. Thanks.

Unfortunatly, your tranny is computer shifted, and the computer bases its shift points on inputs from the engine sensors. You can still go w/ the carb setup however, because I think JET Performance sells stand alone computers just for the tranny, but I don't know if you can use them w/ carb.
