Clacking Noise??? Torque Converter???

Ever since I got a tranny rebuild and a used NON lockup converter I have had a clacking type noise under the car. It sounds like it could be coming from around the converter or exhaust. I read someone else posted something about the pressure in the tranny and converter? any ideas.

'Sounds' like a cracked/loose flywheel.

On another note, did you just install the Non-Lock converter? This is not good. If you are on the street you should have L/U but if you use a Non L/U converter you need to replace the L/U apply valve in the pump with the TransGo special valve to prevent lube problems.

Well I am not too sure of the specifics, the guy who rebuilt my tranny told my Dad that he used I believe a hydraulic NON LU. About whether or not about the transgo part I am not sure. Also, the clacking used to come and go, but now seems to be there all the time. I am getting my car worked on in a few days, changing the gears, so I'll have the guy look the car over. Oh, could a cracked flywheel hurt my performance.

A cracked flywheel could set off the knock sensor and that will affect performance but I would be more concerned about taking the tranny pump out.

I think I may have found the problem. I was under my car changing some spark plugs and noticed a metal sensor that connects to the headers. It is a little loose and when I move it with my hand makes the same sound that I hear, but I guess faster since the motor vibrates it.
