2.73 to 3.42 -7.5" 10bolt carrier swap q's?

ok i have a 3.42 rear end out of a s-10 truck 91 model 2wheel drive 7.5" 10 bolt. complete rear end assembely. i want to "gut" the s-10 rear for the 3.42 carrier and pinion. i want to put this in my 1989 formula's rear it currently has 2.73's(yes these suck *** ). my question is since these are both 7.5" 10 bolts, how would this be accomplished in the most cost effective manner? i was thinking to "gut" the s-10's rear and put in everything in mine as it was in the s-10's rear. will this work? i really need some help i know the cost of a shop to have the swap done and its very costly,.plus i would like to learn how to do this swap myself. ............remember i want to swap complete carriers...not just ring and pinion!!!!!!

Yes. Just remove the entire carrier complete w/ ring gear and remove the pinion also. Then install into your rearend. Here is a crash course on installing: Rearend
