84 camaro z28 shell tranny question

i am going to buy a shell of a camaro without the motor so i can drop a crate one in there. Should i look for a auto or man. which one will hold up better and should i look for a 3.70 9bolt rear??

If it was me I'd opt for an auto probably a turbo 350 lockup the T5 scares me I was raised on Muncies, but lakewood makes a blowshield that will take a Muncie or T10 for use with the hydro clutch made for gen3 for the rear the 7.5 is cheaper to fix, build and easier to find. I always approach the situation with what will be the easiest and cheapest to repair because if you are like me it's gonna break

I would go with a 700 as long as the TV geometry will be correct and the tranny is setup correctly. In the long run it will be more consistant and less expensive than a stick.

i guess i am going to go with the 700 seeing as i looked at a cpl of camaros and they were pieces of s#!t and then i was driving down the road and i saw the most beautiful 86 trans am !!!!! they only want 1k for it since the prev owner blew up the motor paint is ok (flaking) but the interior is good and the ttops seal!!!! if i am not mistakin isnt the 86 trans am have 3.70 9bolt rear??

I have two 86 T/As one had a BW 370 with discs the other had the GM 323posi. I sold the BW rear and got another GM 323 with discs and am waiting on the arrival of a 373 GM posi some one is giving me that came from an 86 T/A
