Time has come to solve the differential problem

So to update you on my car it is an 83 Trans Am, with a chev 350 bored .30 over, has a street hp 650 dp mech secondaries, edelbrock intake, crane cam, hydraulic lifters, accel super coil, dist, rotor, and wires. It has been balanced aswell. Also has flowtech headers, smaller chambered heads, ugraded oil pump, 3`` custom made stainless y-pipe, It has the original T5 with every new part possible to do with it and standard.

So that is the update now tomorrow I have the day off to open up the diff and probly find that i stripped an axle with that engine, it is kinda wild. So now I would like to do it right while im doing it no sense doing it twice, what kind of differential solutions and gear sets would you recommend for this combo. I also plan on ugrading the suspension this year so i can paint underneath the car and finish the interior. Then I will be done and can park it so it dont break anymore.

Re: Time has come to solve the differential problem

Your car will have the 7.5 10 bolt with 26 spline axles. I would get a set of 28 spline axles, a new 28 spline Eaton posi, a new set of gears and a good installation kit. The new gears will be 7 5/8, which are a little stronger. A T/A Performance cover would also be a good idea. Or you could fins a '90 or later rear end and start with it because it will have 28 spline axles and the 7 5/8 gears.

If you want something that you will never have to worry about again then get a new Moser 12 bolt. They start at about $2200. You will spend about $1200 in parts rebuilding the 7.5 that you have now and you will still have a weak rear end.

i could go as high as 2500$ maybe 3000$ if the whole setup has disc brakes on it. What about dana I always hear the guy from hot rod tv talking about them like they are the holy grail.
