Trans not plugged

I can't get the plug to stay in my trans--think it's for the tcc lock up. Will I hurt the rans if I take it on the highway or will it just hurt my fuel mileage? Don't want to blow the trans--already!

The answer is....... maybe! It will not blow in a mile if that is what you think but I can tell you from experience that if you have the usual 2.73's in time the seals will turn hard from the heat generated cruising at or near stall speed. If you have 3.73's you may get away with it for along time, or if you drive at 90 MPH at won't matter either!

The bottom line is you should find out why it wont go in and fix it, even if it means using a tie wrap on it.

So the lower the rear ratio the more damage you'll do? I have 3.27's in mine--I'll be driving at least 160 miles--avg. of 80 miles. Think I should just leave it home??

Is the locking tab on the plug on the tranny
broken off? If it is, you can get one from your local transmission shop for a couple of
dollars. Since you must remove the pan
change the plug, it would be a good time to change the filter. After unplugging the internal harness I use a 12 pt. deep socket
(3/4"?) and slip it over the three locking
tabs until it releases the plug. Then I push
the plug out of the case through the drive hole of the socket with a screwdriver.

Seems like there's debris(sp?)in the plug itself--gonna take it to a trans guy anyway--doning just what you said to do-plus gonna put the Vette servo and a shift kit--hey-what the hell! just didn't want to drive it around and cause damage.
