new gears?
new gears?
I want to put in some shorter gears in the rear end, but don't want to kill my mileage.I run a 700r4 tranny and would like to put in some 3.73's. Anybody run this combo and get decent mileage?

I run 4:10's with a 700R4 with a 350 TPI and get 16-17 MPG with some 2,400RPM 'highway' drives. I also drove to the track with it (didn't race that day, didn't want to get stranded if it broke) and returned 220 miles on the tank with a spash left (1/8 or so)
4:10's are overkill but they're great in the city. 3:73's should be a-ok unless you commute everyday, then they are too much also.
