Hi I am looking for advise from someone who is actualy running the converter they are recommending.I have a 91 formula 350 with 25,000 miles.3.23gears.cold air.ported upper plenum.160stat.hypertech chip.trans go shift kit.trans coolor. no cats.flowmaster cat back.etc etc.just bolt ons.I want to purchase a higher than stock stall but being a TPI I am worried about going to far.I just want better accell its a weekend car only sees about 1,000 miles a year.Is any body with out major engine mods running something they like?Thanks for the help

 

A stall is the best bolt on you can do to an auto. You can do it to a bone stock car and at the right stall speed, you can knock off 1/2 second or more in the 1/4mile. In my auto/3.23 LT1 I had a Vigilante 3000 stall. I wish I went higher like to 3500 stall. All I had done to it was long tubes, catback, ram air intake, and a tune.

I would bet with TPI, 3000 would be perfect. In fact that's the stall I'm going to get when I scrounge up the dough. Vigilantes are expensive, $800 or so. My brother has a performabuilt transmission with their own stall and loves it. Those stalls are considerably cheaper so I might give one of those a shot.
