Car: 1987 IROC-Z
Engine: 350
Transmission: T-5
best way to line everything up
about 2 weeks ago, i was bolting my tranny and bellhousing the the engine... and the dam,n thing cracked! i got the used one in today, and i want to make sure i do it right this time. i dont wanna have to beg for another bellhousing, and i damn sure dont want to pay $300 for a new one.
i have a alignment(sp?) tool, and used it last time, and appenently, things wherenty lined up right before....
answers would help...

If you are using an alignment tool, you should have no problems bolting the transmission to the bellhousing. But I would enlist the help of a friend to push the
clutch pedal in after you get the input shaft in the disc's splines. This will release the pressure plate's grip on the disc
and allow you to move the input shaft into
the pilot bearing. The transmission should
then be against the bellhousing and ready to be bolted up.
