How does the gear vendors unit work. It splits the gears of an automatic, but is this all the time or do you have to activate it?

It's an electrically operated overdrive unit that bolts on the end of your transmission. You have to manually turn it on and off.

The gear vendors unit can either be manually operated or it can run in an auto mode. You can use it to provide a massive overdrive, or run high rear gears and use it as an underdrive for power. It can split the gears (8 speeds out of a 4 speed auto) or just put in one mode or the other for normal 1-2-3-4 shifting. They run around $2000+, I think.
If you have a 700-R4 you don't really need it.

88 IROC with cobbled together (not by me)drivetrain, 86 (?) TPI unit,CE subframe connectors, Edelbrock strut tower brace, polygraphite bushings all around...it handles like a dream, but man is it hard to push!!
