Problems with Transgo shiftkit
Ok I have a 87 GTA with the 700R4. I have the shift kit from summit TRG-700. According to them it has the 1st type valve body but it also has the aux. valve body. I opted for the automatic control. I now have it together up on jack stands and tried to run through the gears.
PARK......Good
Reverse...Good
Neutral...Good
Drive.....BAD
on the first run it will shift to 2nd at around 30 mph under light throttle, ok now for third,..50...70 mph no third, no the trans is whining, look under the car leaking trans fluid like a sive. The servo poped out and broke a little chunk of the case off. I then removed one of the thick washers from the servo and reinstalled a thin washer and reinstalled the servo. Refilled trans and try again, still no third but servo stayed in. I am down to 1 thick washer and 2 thin ones. IS that good? I know question whether I got the return spring on the servo mixed up with the black spring on the 2nd accumlator. ANY IDEAS I really don't want to rip it apart again but I am afraid I will have to because it goes to the body shop on friday and I have no trailer.

Ok I called Pro built Automatics and found out that I didn't drill a vent hole in the vb for third gear. So I tore it apart again and found that yees it was not drilled and also left out a check ball in the aux valve body. Other than that that is all that I can find so I put it back together again and go to start it up again, no leaks, so far so good, put it in reverse, nothing, drive, nothing. F--K!!!!!! SO NOW I HAVE TO RIP IT APART AGAIN!!!! Although the shifter got stuck and did not want to rturn to park. HMMMMMMM!!! Any ideas? Im going to rip it apart tommarrow morning at 7:30 am. I think that I must have not got the little lever insstalled right and it is jammed??? Any other ideas?

Wait for the weekend and clear your schedule. Then take the instructions out and pretend that someone ELSE installed this in a tranny that was working and now it isn't. You know that it is some probably simple mistake that they made, such as gaskets on wrong side of plate, out of position, loose bolts, checkball out of place, valve missassembled, roll pin in wrong place, etc. Just take it one step at a time and you will find it.
