i dont realy know much about gears but i wanna get either 3.42s or 3.73s i got 2.73s right now but im confused about the 3 series or 2 series carrier thing what do i need to get before i bring it to a shop to get installed i knwo the gears and pinion and berings is that it help needed thanx

You have a 2 series carrier. If it is a 10 bolt (look at the cover and count the bolts) there are companies that make as high as 3.42 for it. You neeed a 3 series carrier for 3.73 gears. If you have a 9 bolt it is very expensive to do gears in it and from what I understand not many places sell them.

You can get 3.73's in a 2 series.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, current red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

im looking in the summit magazine for the gears right now but i dunno which 10bolt gears i have i have an 89 rs there are 8.2dia, 7.5dia, and 8.5 diam oh and there are 2 groups of 8.2 one with pinion stem and other with 25 spline pinion if anyone has a summit magazine they can see what i mean thanx

I believe an 89 could have either a 10 bolt with a 7.5 or a 7.625 ring gear or it could have 9 bolt.

I can get you all the 9 bolt parts you need, including gear sets to 4.10.

im pretty sure its a 10 bolt in summit i would need the one thats RMG-4900071?? its the 3.73 gear (3.08 lower carrier )

If you have 2.73's it's a 10 bolt 2 series carrier. Correct, RMG-4900071, it's the same that I have.
