You have a 2 series carrier. If it is a 10 bolt (look at the cover and count the bolts) there are companies that make as high as 3.42 for it. You neeed a 3 series carrier for 3.73 gears. If you have a 9 bolt it is very expensive to do gears in it and from what I understand not many places sell them.

A4 with 3.42 gears
Fully loaded and everything usually works.

Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, current red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I believe an 89 could have either a 10 bolt with a 7.5 or a 7.625 ring gear or it could have 9 bolt.

I can get you all the 9 bolt parts you need, including gear sets to 4.10.

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES, it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. I currently have 4.10 gear sets and new series 3 carriers in stock for 9 bolts )

If you have 2.73's it's a 10 bolt 2 series carrier. Correct, RMG-4900071, it's the same that I have.
