Can a T56 bolt to a 72 block?

I have a chance to get a built 350 for a good price but the block is a 72. Will there be any problems bolting a T56 to this? Are the bolt patterns the same for all year? I need to know if this engine is a good buy.

well i know that you will need the flywheel that is made for the 2 peice rear main seal. contact centerforce.

The bolt patterns from the tranny to the block are the same. The only problem you'll run into is the 72' block uses a 2-piece rear main seal, and the T56 flywheel will not bolt up b/c the pattern is totally different. Centerforce makes a custom flywheel for this. I can't remember the part number, but it's listed on www.centerforce.com
It's about $270 IIRC.

Good luck, and HTH!

Yeah, you'll be ok. Just make sure your T56 is not a 98+ or you are in trouble, and need an LS1 to bolt it to. McLeod also makes that flywheel, and they have a better LT1 style pull off clutch, IMO.
