Gear sizes?
Gear sizes?
I have a set of 3.73 gears from my rear when I had the pinion bearing done they also changed the gears to a much more friendly 3.42.
My 3.73 gears are much thicker than a friend has for his gear swap on his T/A.
My question is it it a carrier difference on why the gears are a different thickness?
If so which carrier is thicker in the ring gear a 2-series or 3?

Fully loaded and everything usually works.

Of the same ratio gears; The 2 series ring gear is thicker than the 3 series.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

around town...no they feel very similar but on the highway it feels much better especially 70+mph.
