How do you get the 700R4 to hold 1st gear?
Thats just my question. In my 83, it shifts itself at about 4800rpm even with me holding the shifter in 1st. Now in 2nd and 3rd, you can hold it all the way as high as you want it. How do you get around this 1st gear thing?

I don't seem to have the problems other people have had w/ my 700. It is an '87 unit, and I know it will hold first gear because when I first put the TPI on, I was so pumped I was goofing off in the parking lot one day and had it up to 6000 and it started floating the valves (misfiring and all) and it never shifted.
I also noticed that it shifts into OD at WOT. I found this out the first time I went to the track and didn't think about leaving it in D.
