The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit will do what you want ($78.00), .500 main boost valve ($10.00), intermediate/reverse boost valve ($15.00), Corvette Servo with the latest Viton seals ($22.00). If I can be of help call me at 800 7763288.
Hey Iroc... my car is doing the EXACT same thing... it will get to 2nd then rpm's go redline when i press the gas more. I started manually shifting it from 1st... to 2nd... then drive... then overdrive... it works most of the time... well... the past 2 days... i'm not driving it now because I'm gettin prices for a rebuild on my tranny. What exactly does a shift kit do? I'm only 16 and this is my first experience with cars lol.

Get the TransGo Kit. I differ on the Boost Valve sizes though. The .422 will be fine for your small block (that is what TransGo recommends). You also should have a sufficiently sized Int/Rev boost valve already in your tranny as well as the .422. You MIGHT have the 'Vette Servo already (I have seen them come that way sometimes). It is OK but the V-8 Servo will also work well too unless you have the engine modded allot. If you are looking for more show off, at the possible expense of parts (such as the Sun Shell) then go with the bigger boost valves.
J.C. Whitney sells what they call a heavy duty high performance transmission rebuilding kit for $169 ('82-'86) and $189 ('88-'93).
I had one and it came with Alto clutches (no band), a TransGo 2-3 kit with the clutch release springs, etc and an order form for all the goodies like vette servos and boost valves. Not bad considering Summit wants $130 for just the shift kit.
