What higher performance tranny would you recommend for a 2.8 L V6?for a

I have a '88 F'bird with a 2.8 L V6 in it. I just blew the transmission and I am wanting to get a new transmission instead of rebuilding the stock transmission. I want a higher performance tranny so that it can handle a little more agressive driving. Plus, within the year I will be putting in a new V6 and supercharging it, so I need a tranny that can handle that. If anyone can help me with this question it would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The internals are not really different than a regular 700 so I would stick with it. Get the TransGo Reprogramming Kit and also install the Hi Rev Release Springs that come with it. Also get the TransGo Hi Rev Pump Ring Kit too. I Update mine to the 4L60E 3-4 pack and Sprag assembly too. Replace the Sun Shell with a Brand New one from GM.

In addition to what transfixleo said.
The V-6 transmission has fewer clutches instead it uses aluminum plates to make up for the space, theses can be removed and more clutch plates put in their place. It can be built exactly like a V-8 trans at that point.
I have an S-10 with a 350, the trans was built from parts out of a high performance V-6 trans, I just put it all in a V-8 case and used a V-8 input drum, it works great with the light vehicle and 3.73 rear.

On an '88 it should have the full count of clutches just like a V-8.
