Another rear end swap question(s)

I have been trying to search for an old post about this but could never find what I was looking for. First of all, I now have a 3:08 open drum rear end. I hate it and I spin everywhere I go. I have the oppurtunity to buy one of two rear ends. The first one being a 3.42 posi drum rear out of a 1986 or 87 Z28 (aftermarket gears that have a slight wine and it also has high perf. brakes). The other is an 86 TA disk w/ 3.73. They are both pretty much the same price but I have to buy brakes for the disk one. My question is which one is best for me? I would like disk brakes but I am not sure if it is worth the work and money to convert it. But which gear is better. And finally if I buy either one of these will it be a direct swap other than disk brakes?
Thanks

Do you realize that you will be trading your '90 28 splines for (pre-88) 26 splines? Kinda the wrong way to go...

Also, you haven't really described what you plan to do with the car... street? drag? racing?

splines aren't going to make much if any difference. However, I would still go with what you already have. Richmond 3.73's, slp torsen or powertrax locker, new bearings--you end with a very solid rear-end that you know will last, rather than buying a used one may have problems early down the road. Worn posi come to mind.
If you can live with your current gears a powertrax is a quick install(the gears won't get removed) and you will end up with more traction than any limited slip(posi).
PS I started out with your exact problem.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I don't believe this rear end is stock. I thought all ws6 cars in 1990 came with posi disk rears. Maybe not. But if it is not stock then I don't know what number spline I have. How do I find out more about the rear end in my car? If I do go with a locker, what gears do you suggest? I use this as a daily driver/raced on the weekend. Gas mileage does not matter.
Thanks again
