t-56 reverse

i was just going through the gears on my newly purchased 6 speed and it doesnt feel like it will let me go into reverse. could it be that since the reverse solenoid isnt hooked up it wont let me? or is it some other problem ( like the operator)?

I used to have an 89 Iroc (sold it last week ). I had the T56 in it for the last 2 years, never hooked up the solenoid. It just took a little more force to get it into reverse, b/c of that lockout solenoid. Just takes some getting used to.

what if i just took the solenoid out? it is the goldish tube on the back next to the shifter right? would this cause any probs? i am sorry to hear you had to sell your car, today is the 1 year aniversary of my wreck, funny it feels like it was just yesterday.

Just wire the reverse solenoid to the brake lights. So that it will only be energized when you have the brakes on.
