Six speed shifter getting hot
I just got my six speed swap done and im in the process of breaking in the clutch. I've noticed that when I drive for awhile the shifter gets pretty hot. Not the **** though. But the shifter gets hot enough to where you can grab it, you just can't hold onto it for very long without letting go. It doesn't burn your hand or anything but I pretty sure its not normal. Does anyone know what the flip is going on?
Engine temp is 170 on the highway and 180 in traffic.

Re: Six speed shifter getting hot
Mine has done it too, here just tonight I got my camaro going and took it to work (I work at a Pepsi company
just thought to say it) I let my friend drive it and he was talking about how the shifter was getting pretty warm.
I assume why mine is warm is because when I was following the instructions thread on how to swap in a 6 speed into a third gen camaro. they said cut two inches back (I think it was inches?) well apparently I cut a little more than I should have so theres a good gap from the shifter from the body that I cut. I figure its just the exhaust raising up (even when Im driving around)
But idk.. I could be wrong, I wonder if these transmissions easly absorb heat... -shrug- just my

On mine though, i bought a big lower boot (the junky spectra boot from autozone 7"X8" in size luckily its hidden). It covers the entire hole. I made sure to cover the shifter hole and the hole for the automatic cable. It sucks when you leave holes in the body and you can feel all that heat coming through the hole while your driving.

Re: Six speed shifter getting hot
The shifter eventually ends up being the same temp as the trans . That's how my T-5 is too .
