which year Ebrake cables for 4th gen rear in 3rd gen car
I have a 91z28 and i just put a 97 trans am rearend in it today. it use to have drum brakes. I need to know how to get the ebrake to work. I have the ebrake cables that came with the 4th gen rear but the brackets for the lines are not in the right place on the underside of the car. what year cables do i need to get it to work.

I had rear disc in my car before I put my 4th gen rear in and I was able to adapt the existing bracket above the driveshaft from my original brake cables to work with the 4th gen cables. I had to bend the bracket channels open a lot to accept the 4th gen cable sheaths and than put them in where the third gen exposed cable part originally ran. The ends of the cables fit into the ends of the bracket above the driveshaft fairly well. I used the ear-type cable retainers that bolt to the rear end cover from the 4th gen car as they would normally be used and the rest of the mounting is all straight 4th gen stuff (ie calipers and routing). It is hard to explain how I got it to work but you basically have to skip the existing thirdgen brackets that are on the body of the car and use the channels of the thirdgen system to hold the cables. Once I got the cables on I had to loosen up the adjustment on the bracket above the driveshaft a pretty good amount to get the rear brakes so they are not constantly applied. I know that the system does not work exactly like it should but with the far end of the cable sheath securely attached to the brackets and the cable itself attached to the caliper lever, they do function properly. Email me if you have any other questions and you can check out my website for some pics but I don't think they show any of the bracketry.
