I have a 97 trans am 6spd that I just put in my 91z28 and i cannot get it into 5th 6th and reverse. The shifter just doenst slide over to the right from the nutreal postion. is it easy to have these rebuilt. anyone ever take one apart before? what could cause this problem.

 

Go to camaroz28.com and look for a Jordan Musser(not sure if that is the right last name) under LT1 tech. He is a regular poster on that board, you may be able to get him on the auto cross board also.

Anyways on his website I remember reading that he has rebuilt his tranny (t56) himself for just under $20 worth of parts. He must be doing something right because it survives quarter mile passes in the high 10s. That's also N/A 10s unless he added the NOS.

Just get in touch with him and maybe he can point you in the right direction.
