i am just about to finish up putting a motor in a 85 z28 im switching to carb instead of tpi now i know there is no need for the computer but if i keep the computer hooked up will the trans still lock up it's a 700r4 trans or will i have to buy the lock up kit?
i'm wondering the same thing currently. i'm only replying to keep this post at the top so i can see the replies.

It may lock up sometimes, but I don't think it would work right. Because it won't have a signal from the throttle position sensor, intake air temp, MAF, ect. I would go with the lock up kit, I will be doing it myself soon. I just ditched my computer for a Holley carb. I think there is an article in another part of this site. I'll check it out. It says you can hook a wire up to your ALDL hook up, and it'll lock the converter up in any gear over 1st.
