Advanced TV cable adjustment?

I read and followed the tech article on tv cable adjustment, because I dropped in a new engine, but when it says to slide it all the way flush with the mounting tab, mine is already flush. So I pushed it back anyways, released re tang, and pushed the throttle to wot. But didn't hear the series of clicks. So is my cable properly adjusted or is there an advanced way of adjusting it?

Did you route the cable correctly?

Re: Advanced TV cable adjustment?

Did the inner piece move outward after the adjustment? If not the cable may be stretched and need to be replaced. If you get a new cable spend the extra coin for a GM original one. Most of the parts store ones are sort of one size fits all and the quality is not as good as OEM.

Re: Advanced TV cable adjustment?

No the inner part did not come back out when i pushed the throttle to wide open. I guess ill have to head down to my chevy dealer and get a new one. The trans seems to shift good though. Or at least it seems like it does maybe ive needed a new cable since ive had the car and i dont know what its like for the trans to shift properly.

Re: Advanced TV cable adjustment?

It is possible that the cable is the right tension right at the end of adjustment, but why take that chance? The cable is cheap, a trans is expensive.

Here are several different links for the cable adjustment
I have several sites, and all pretty much say the same thing, just that each site may have different pics, and diagrams.
