T5 repair

Hey guys, i am buying another 89RS today, T5 car, the trans just grinds when you let off the clutch, so i can say the tras is screwed,

Thing is, i have another T5 that i busted the 3rd gear out of, question is, as i have never been inside one, anyone here know the chances of making a good trans out of the two busted units?
I know i wont even know til someone busts it open for me and see the extent of the two, but how bad do they go when they do?

Re: T5 repair

It's possible, but depends on what's broken in both units. Your best bet is probably to just repair one trans, or both if you want a spare (that you could also sell to recoup some cash if you want). I've found that most transmissions break in the same way, so you may have two that have the same parts broken, in which case you won't have the parts you need anyway. I should be able to set you up with good used parts to replace whatever you've got that's broken. PM me if you're interested.

Re: T5 repair

Turns out the one in the new car burned up the bearing due to lack of fluid but the gears are ok, so i am swapping everything that is good to one unit, should be fine.
