Driveshaft

I was wondering if the drive shaft is the same between 9 bolt and 10 bolt diffs? My parts car is a 92 with a 10 and my car is an 86. I want to be able to use the parts car's shaft in the 86. I assumed they would work together but thought maybe I should ask some one who's done it before. Thanks for any replies.
