85 IROC Shifter Button Reattachment
I am trying to find the actual piece / clip that holds the push button INSIDE the shift ****. I am almost done restoring the interior so I want to finish the punch list. The car came with the button laying inside the ****. I just cant locate the right fastener for the button to attach to the rod assembly.

If your shifter has a round pushbutton of
about 3/4" diameter, you will have to get the clip from your GM dealer. It slips over the end of the flat rod and has tangs that engage the hole that is drilled thru the rod.
It also has tangs that dig into the button
when you push it down over the rod. Pull the
shift **** up into place and slide the
horseshoe clip thru the slot in the ****
and around the groove in the shift tube.
These directions should work on the upgrade
shift *****, too. You might have to order a
box of 5 to get one! Check GM part #9797188
GR 4.006 CLIP
