Anyone use a Bowtie Overdrive 700R4?
I am looking at one from these guys...
www.700r4.com
check out the conversion section for pricing...
Can supposedly handle enough power in a street car that will do low 11's...for $895 outright!
Any experience with these?

Damn...this is not what I wanted to hear. When I talked to someone there on the phone, he made it very clear that I needed to flush the trans cooler in the radiator and to use that in conjunction with an aftermarket cooler. I thought that was a bit overkill...
Anyone else have other experiences with this?
Thanks,
Adam

I have no personal experience, but I have also heard bad things about this guy from a reputable source. Why not go with Probuilt? You get what you pay for!

Actually, after looking at the website, the ProBuilt transmission do seem to be a good choice, however, they don't tell you what they use for internal components.
The one that I like so far is the Raptor
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperf700r4.htm
This trans comes with convertor for $1495. I like the fact that they tell you that they use Alto Red clutches and Kolene steels. They are one of the few that do, especially for the price.
What convinced you to go with the Probuilt trans?

Dude, save yourself a major headache and go with pro-built.
I have a friend with a bow-tie overdrive tranny, and it doesn't shift nearly as hard or good as my pro-built. Bow-tie overdrives does believe in shift kits, and doesn't install them on their trannies. My friend is going to install one on his bow-tie tranny to make it run like my pro-built.

The Pro-Built tranny looks good, but I have a few questions for the Pro-Built Rep.:
1. On the website the price is $1295 for the top one, and you said $1395? Which one is it?
2. What comes with the trans for $1395?
3. Why does ProBuilt use Kolene steels and not the Alto Red clutches? I hear the Alto ones are the best...?
4. How does your trans differ from the Raptor (http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperf700r4.htm)
Just decided to ask on this thread so others can see too. I appreciate your taking the time to answer, as I have heard good things about your transmissions, but research is always a good idea before dropping a lot of cash.

Two reasons for the price increase, my website that you are seeing now was put together in early 1999 (I am almost done with my new website)and cannot change prices or anything else for that matter. I also am doing more to the unit than ever before. For the $1395.00 you get everything stated above including 4 quarts of my Pro-Fluid. The Kolene steels are just that a heat treated steel (they will take more abuse). I use the Borg Warner Hi-Energy 3-4 clutches instead of the Red Altos, they give a better shift feel, take more heat, and have more holding power (capacity). If they will supply you a build list, then compare it against mine and I am sure it does not include everything that I put into mine. I give a one year (unlimited miles in that year) warranty. I do all of the work myself and each unit is custom built to match the torque converter/rear end gear ratio/camshaft/type of driving and vehicle it is going into.
Hope This Helps!!!
