What to do about crossmember bolts???

I just finished installing a TKO 600 and am bolting up my modified stock crossmember with some shims when both left bolts of the crossmember strip. The problem is that the threads on both bolts look fine, so that means its the threads inside the unibody... but what is threaded? a welded nut inside there? I don't know what to do besides drill a big hole and weld a nut inside it.

Anybody ever have this happen before??

if the threads on the old bolts look fine, it is a good chance that the bolts in the subframe are bad, even if new ones fit, it could be a fluke. I would really check and make sure they are ok before you drive the car. Would hate to see the trans fall out.

yea, idk, maybe it was a combination of both of them being half stripped, but when i got new ones in gave just enough bite to hang on. I brought down a drill and tap when i did it just in case i had to do that, but its been holdin fine so far.
